GITA was founded in 1971 and is part of the Korean Translators Association. GITA is dedicated to promoting exchange among translation and interpretation professionals worldwide. On July 15, 2025, Glenn College (Canada) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Global Interpretation and Translation Association (GITA), marking a key step in enhancing cooperation between the two institutions. This partnership focuses on advancing professional translation and interpretation training while strengthening global ties in international business communication. The MOU sets the stage for collaboration in various educational and professional initiatives. A central aspect of the partnership is the introduction of the Business Interpretation and Translation Test (BITT), a certification exam designed to assess practical language skills in business contexts. Glenn College students will have the opportunity to earn internationally recognized BITT certifications, enhancing their competitiveness in the global job market.
BITT evaluates language proficiency for business communication, including the translation and interpretation of contracts, reports, and other business documents. The test not only measures language skills but also cultural understanding and knowledge of international business practices. Earning the BITT certification offers a range of career advantages. Successful candidates gain recognition as skilled professionals in business translation and interpretation, enhancing their employability in the global market. The BITT qualification is recognized by several major companies, and it is often taken into account for recruitment and promotions.
